The Johnsons told me to go ahead and have fun with their coffee table. The only stipulation was that they wanted to be able to put their feet up on it, i.e., a rugged table that will take dings gracefully. Fun, to me, means minimal sanding, so most of the surfaces still show evidence of the hand tools used to shape them.
